Bold Resolutions
Wow, 2012 is almost upon us. Before the New Year arrives, please join us in a toast of sorts, first by taking stock of what you’ve accomplished in 2011 and then by plotting out a few bold resolutions for 2012.
Take Stock of What You've Accomplished
Speaking for ourselves, 2011 was a year rich with great partnerships, fresh thinking and good old-fashioned diligence. We are grateful to our clients who both challenged and inspired us to do some of our best work yet. Here are few of the highlights:
- AXA Equitable turned their 800-pound gorilla’s retirement into a
social media happening. - Now in its 8th year, the HSBC BankCab delighted customers on the road and also on Twitter.
- Optimum Business continued to help small businesses thrive both online and at events via the Optimist Network.
- We designed and architected Qwips, a nifty new iPhone app that brings voice to social media.
- Positioned as the “global leader in tag management,” TagMan spread the speed gospel across multiple channels, including tradeshows.
- ZogSports, the sports league for grown-ups, playfully turned their brand into a verb, asking
on and offline: “Do You Zog?”
We hope it was an equally fruitful year for you, but enough with the reminiscing – let’s move on to
the year ahead.
Plot Out A Few Bold Resolutions for 2012
George Harrison’s last released single, “Any Road,” reminds us, “if you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.” This poignant parting gift from the youngest Beatle was the inspiration for Drew’s most recent FastCompany.com article that highlights these 8 bold resolutions for marketers:
- I Will Have A Systematic Means of Measuring Marketing Effectiveness
- I Won’t Pay Lip Service to Being a “Good” Company
- I Will Seek Power Partnerships
- I Will Aggregate High Quality Content From and For My Constituents
- I Will Carefully Cultivate My Customer Community
- I Will Think of Social Media as More Than an Advertising Channel
- I Will Make Exceptional Customer Service An Everyday Practice
- I Won’t Be the Last One in My Category to Build a Mobile Site
In the article, each of these resolutions is coupled with specific examples from leading marketers at Cablevision, Eloqua, IBM, Petco, SAP and The Grammys. Rather than go into more detail here, we encourage you to read the article OR give us a shout and we can send it to you as a PDF.
If you have resolutions to add to this list or just feel like sharing, please let us know. In the meantime, expect to hear from us one more time this year with our special holiday edition of The Cut. Cheers!
