GPT Guru: How B2B Teams Can Leverage ChatGPT
The creative and time-saving potential of ChatGPT is vast, and the implications for B2B marketing teams? Nothing short of revolutionary.
We invited Nicole Leffer, a seasoned marketing professional who has successfully deployed ChatGPT to enhance her writing and streamline her workflow, to a CMO Huddles Bonus Huddle. She shared a bevy of practical tips for how CMOs and their teams can train ChatGPT to create high-quality content. Here are six of her top tips delivered (not surprisingly) with the help of ChatGPT.
1. Capture Your Voice as a Prompt
“If you’re not impressed with the output, you’re doing it wrong.”
To establish your unique writing style as a prompt, start by introducing ChatGPT to your preferred voice, tone, and style. Provide samples of your previous blog posts or articles, keeping the content consistent, and ask ChatGPT to read these writing samples. By analyzing this text, ChatGPT can assess and replicate your voice. Once you have a prompt that reflects your writing style, save it in a master file of prompts.
2. Craft Blog Posts in ChatGPT
“When I create a blog post or LinkedIn post, it’s really my thinking.”
When crafting blog posts, inform ChatGPT about your expertise, such as being the “world’s best copywriter for blogs.” Clearly state the subject matter and paste your established writing style prompt. Then, provide the main ideas you want the blog post to cover. Request ChatGPT to generate an outline and refine it if necessary. Proceed by asking ChatGPT to write one section at a time, considering multiple iterations for each section. Proofread the output before incorporating it into your document.
3. Handy Prompt Crafting Tips
“Use ‘limit prose’ to restrict the length of each sentence and paragraph.”
ChatGPT tends to be verbose, so using the “limit prose” instruction can help you control the output’s length. Additionally, opt for clear and direct language in your prompts, even seeking assistance from ChatGPT to refine them further.
4. Use ChatGPT for Various Tasks
“Before I do anything now, I ask how could AI help me.”
Expand your utilization of ChatGPT across different areas:
- Social Media: Request ChatGPT to craft a LinkedIn response in your voice, complete with emojis, to address specific questions.
- Repurpose Content: Feed ChatGPT your podcast or webinar transcripts and ask for short summaries, listicles, or newsletters with key takeaways.
- Software Help: Seek assistance from ChatGPT to resolve issues with other software tools. For instance, ask about Canva’s description of templates for a folded 8.5×11 brochure.
- Excel: Inquire about formulas you can use in Excel to analyze data effectively.
- Email Testing: Task ChatGPT with generating subject lines and various testable options.
- Versions: Generate iterations of your work, such as personal branding materials or newsletters, with ChatGPT’s assistance.
- ABM Content: Create personalized iterations of your Account-Based Marketing playbook.
5. Protect Your Proprietary Data
“If you have proprietary data and you don’t want ChatGPT to learn that data, you can now turn off training mode to protect it.”
In scenarios where you possess sensitive information that you wish to exclude from ChatGPT’s learning process, you can (and should) disable training mode. However, keep in mind that turning off training mode will erase your past iterations, so ensure you’ve copied any relevant data elsewhere.
6. Personal Uses
“Tell ChatGPT how AI could help you.”
Apart from professional applications, ChatGPT can assist you with personal tasks as well. Here are three personal use cases:
- Cooking: Share the ingredients you have in your refrigerator with ChatGPT and ask it to generate recipes. You’ll receive creative and delicious meal suggestions based on the ingredients you already have, making your cooking experience more enjoyable.
- Book Club: If you’re part of a book club and want to enhance your discussions, ChatGPT can be of great help. After reading a book, request thought triggers in the form of bulleted notes, synopsis, character analysis, or even a discussion guide. ChatGPT ca.n assist in structuring your thoughts and fostering engaging conversations
A final note of caution: Remember, while ChatGPT is a powerful tool, it’s crucial to exercise caution. Avoid relying on it for factual information and always fact-check independently. ChatGPT can provide the source of facts upon request, but verifying external sources is recommended even then.
